*PRESENT*


     "nicki where are you!?!?!" lauren asked panicking.  "I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE I HATE MY LIFE!!!!!!" nick cried. tt took the phone away from lauren, "nicki don't say that... just tell me where you are and i'll come pick you up and we can talk about it," tt reasoned. all she heard as a response on the other line was sobbing, sniffling and the pitter patter of rain in the back ground. "nicki.....nicki....nic please answer me," tt pleaded. nicki was breathing so hard contemplating her next move. "goodbye," "what nicki wai....." tt was interrupted by the buzzing of lauren's phone indicating the call ended.

      nicki started walking. every step she took her vision became more clearer and she became younger. the rain was clearing up and soon there was nothing but the moon in the sky. she continued to walk until she was in front of  her childhood home, as the ten year old onika. she walked up the stairs to her front porch and stood there. she hesitantly reached for the door knob then stopped. she took a deep breath and put her hand on the knob. slowly she turned the knob and walked in. she was bum rushed by her mom yelling her name and hugging and kissing her.

"nicki are you okay?!did anyone try to hurt you?! carol panicked while checking if she had any bruises or scratches."don't you ever run out like that do you understand me onika?"

"yes mommy,"nicki replied on the verge of tears. nicki felt like she had no control of her body. she felt as if she was there re living the worst day of her life. carol seeing her daughter a little out of it, engulfed nicki into a huge embrace. nicki soaked it all in missing her mothers hugs.

"are you hungry?" carol asked still hugging nicki.

"no," nicki replied.

"okay got upstairs and go to bed okay?"

"okay mommy,"nick made her way up stairs and to do what her mom told her to do. her older brother already went to sleep. so she went straight into the room that she shared with her younger brother. he was asleep too. she crawled into her bed.

"no don't go to sleep!!! you have to save your family!!! nooo!!!" nicki screamed while her body was slowly going to sleep. she closed her eyes only to be awoken by smell of smoke. nicki jumped out of her bed. the room was filled with smoke. she ran over to her little brothers bed, "makiya wake up!!" nicki screamed. he didnt move. nicki kept trying but soon the smoke became to much. she was coughing violently. she ran out the room and stumbled down the stars. "MOM!!!!!....JELANI!!!!...." she screamed but got no answer.

"nicki.....nicki.....nicki....nicki..." she heard her name being called in the distance. she started yelling there names again but she got no response. she felt her body being roughly shaken. she woke up in a pile of tears, 24 years old and blind. she was breathing heavily and her skin felt like it was on fire. a fast beeping sound in the background made nicki panic even more. she felt someone hold her.

" shhhhh it's all right you're okay i got you, i got you," drake said calming her down, she relaxed in his arms.

"where am i," nicki choked out.

" you're in the hospital don't worry you're okay," drake replied. the beeping on her monitor  was slowing down.

" hold me tighter drake," she pleaded.

"okay," he held her closer to him while pressing a button on the side of her bed calling for a nurse."just go back to sleep okay?" she shook  her head then fell asleep on his chest.
